Eco Tricon - Feiplastic Fair

The Tricon Energy Brazil Polymers team officially launched our sustainability initiative, Eco Tricon, during the Feiplastic Fair.

The main pillars of Eco Tricon are to maximize our presence in the international market for recycled polymers and to raise awareness among end users, customers and employees.

We also announced our partnership with ONG Mar Limpo (Clean Ocean), which removes plastic waste from the beaches of Sao Paulo and uses the residue to create recycled items.

In 1950, the world’s population of 2.5 billion people produced 1.5 million tons of plastic; in 2016, a global population of more than 7 billion people produced over 320 million tons of plastic. This is set to double by 2024. Every day, approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans.

Plastics takes up to 1,000 years to degrade in a landfill.

Recycling plastic takes 88% less energy than making plastic from raw materials. Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the Earth four times.

This is why Tricon Energy, as an important stakeholder in the polymers business, has created Eco Tricon, our sustainable brand of recycled polymers.

We have chosen Brazil as the best place to start due to our extensive presence in the region, its environmental importance and its large population. Our initial labor will focus on PET, which is one of the most used polymers, with great recyclability and a large presence in the wastewater that reaches our oceans.
